hana pa'a

is "hana pa'a." On wehewehe.org it means "to make secure, fasten, or shut up..." also a way of saying you have steady employment. Locals know that when someone is pole fishing, "Hana pa'a!" means, "I got a bite!" "Kimo, Honey?" "Yes, My love." "You know after I said, 'Yes, Let's get Married,' you told your friends, Hanapa'a. What did that mean?" "My love...It meant I caught YOU..My ultimate prize." "Oh, Ok. Too bad wasn't a tag and release" (she whispered). Making the fish bite is one thing...landing them is another: Gaff Man is a Winnah!
