#3 The Ocean

It’s a sanctuary, a playground and gathering place. Black sand, green sand, white sand, no sand, no matter it's the water we're there for. There is no place we miss the most when we’re away from the islands, we call in sick to go there, we fish our food from it, we try our best to take care of it, we can go to any beach on any of the islands and we know exactly what to do there. On holidays we camp there to stay close to the ocean, we bring our families and play music and sing there; we tell stories about the best days of surfing, and best days of fishing at our favorite spots. We take our sweetest loves there, we have our arguments and fights there, and we ask our sweethearts to marry us there, we sometimes make love there and we get married there. Our fondest memories and dreams are of the ocean. We fight for our right to go there. It’s something we share. We risk our lives in the ocean every time we go there, why? We just do. It’s fun…stay Hawaiian.

I also like to just meditate or day dream while staring at the ocean. It is rather stress relieving.

I'm a non-swimming local girl, born and raised ... sad but true ... married to a human fish and mother-in-law to another. I do love looking at our beautiful Pacific, it's so restful and calming to me, and don't forget the bounty that comes from it and blesses our tummies.
