#4 High School Football

Hawaiians love high school football. They love it so much many of them still tell stories of their glory years. They still keep track of their high school team’s record for the current season (if they are winning) or they probably have a team highlight video. Relatives and friend have heard all too often the words, “When I was in high school…,”or, “Our team…. They love it so much that they'll wear their high school team's t-shirt to every social event both formal and casual. So much that it's embarrassing to wear a t-shirt of a school that hasn't had a winning year in a long time.

The movie, Varsity Blues, is just as relevant to Hawaiians as it is to Texans. To Hawaiians football is a big deal. Heck, the state even tore down the old stadium in 1976 when Aloha Stadium was completed in Halawa. Das right! They don't call it Stadium Park for nothing. Well, maybe Hawaiians won’t shut down the town to see the game, but expect Hawaiians to represent their football teams proudly…stay Hawaiian.
